Boredom can have profound effects on what you write next. No I am not deleting this blog because I am bored. Neither should the title suggest that. The title just signifies that December and end of 2017 is near.
Coming back to boredom, I have found it an excellent motivator in the recent past. Since the body and mind do not understand boredom (but do understand doing nothing), they obviously fight it to get back to things that are exciting and challenging.
Having a schedule helps the brain to think and here I was, minding my business, trying to write my blogging schedule for December. And all I could think of was no, no, no. That’s when the boredom set in. Was I really going to do the same thing on my blog I had been doing for 3 months?
Of course not! December is coming – end of the year – and while my blogging community is buzzing with new ideas, I have none. And then remembering two tweets that defined ‘December’ so perfectly – one said December feels like a month of 31 Fridays the other if everyone lived the rest of the year the way we do in December, we would be happier – I simply had to do something different.
And when in doubt, you go to your digital marketing friend, JD, who had the perfect ‘campaign’ idea – crowd source phrases and write stories on those.
Viola!
The crowd sourcing has begun. I already have a few in my Evernotes but I am looking for more. If you’d like to help, do comment on this post with phrases – they can be anything – think of them as story prompts – and I’ll try to conjure up a story.
That’s it. That’s the plan for December.
