Being Silly

PHOTO PROMPT ยฉ Priya Bajpal

โ€œThis is silly.โ€

โ€œNothing is silly.โ€

โ€œEverything about this is silly! The colours, the jar, the little fountainโ€ฆseashells? Really? Come on!โ€

โ€œSuchita it is a birthday partyโ€ฆโ€

โ€œFor a 29-year-old! This. Is. Silly!โ€

โ€œWhen was the last time you were silly?โ€

Suchita had no response. And since she couldnโ€™t fight with logic, she fought with tears and pleas.

But all of it fell on deaf ears. Her sister was determined to get her to enjoy some silliness, even if she was 29.

And though Suchita would never accept it, she quite liked the aesthetic of the bright colours and seashells.

Written as part of the Friday Fictioneers hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. The idea is to write a 100-word story on a photo prompt. You can read the other stories here.

  3. Always the right age to have a bit of fun and be a little bit silly. Life is too short for anything else…

    1. Suchita would disagree. But then she also wrote the post because she knows the merits of being silly ๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. Being those practical ones, I don’t think I’ve been silly and had the fun of it. A lovely take on the prompt, Suchita.

  7. Hope it’s a true story suchita and you got to enjoy some of the silliness. I woukd love to have this party and be silly for a short while. At 29 or 59, the best part is there are people around you to be silly with.

    1. I am selectively silly – and thanks to the patient people around me, a little more than I’d probably be on my own.

  8. Dear Suchita,

As I plainly state on my blog, “Growing older is inevitable. Growing up is optional.” That’s MY story and I’m sticking to it. Cute story.

  11. I’m known for being silly, and I always feel bad for the adults who have lost their childhood whimsy and playfulness. It makes things easier to handle.
