Sisters are amazing creatures. They are fodder for writing. They annoy, please, trouble and save and teach you things along the way. We have screaming matches when we are together but when either of us is not at home, the other one doesn’t really know what to do with herself.
This post though, as the title suggests, is not about how wonderfully infuriating sisters are but about a birthday wish that SA had a week ago where she said she’d like to feature on my blog making it sound like such an honour that I had no choice but to pen down roughly 400 words in her honour.
Unlike me who doesn’t like the limelight but craves for it nonetheless, my sister has no such qualms. She is happy to get a mention of her name anywhere and will romance the limelight if required – something I both envy and admire.
And since she has taught me so many things in her 23 years of existence, here are the best nuggets of wisdom from my beloved sister:
- Getting out of an argument – call someone a buffalo or say ‘your brain is switched off’
- Get someone to agree with you – badger them with your point of view till they say yes just to shut you up – if that doesn’t work, you threaten to sit on them
- The ultimate weapon – long, sharp nails
- Boosting self confidence – keep saying (out loud) I am awesome, especially after you have accomplished a great feat – like putting the eye liner properly
- Showing love – by saying ‘you are my favourite sister’ (she technically only has one but it gets me every time – what can I say I am a sucker)
- Guilt someone into doing your bidding – say stuff like ‘you don’t care about me anymore’ – works like a charm
- To be a cheerleader – keep complimenting the person till they crack and start to grin like an idiot
- Embarrassing someone like a boss – randomly go up to them and hug them, kiss them or gently caress their arm and bum (when in PUBLIC)
- Blessings galore – bless people so they can be rich and spend money on you *wink wink*
- How to annoy someone – by telling them to do something that is completely out of their comfort zone
So there SA, I gave you your wish, now can I please go back to reading? Pretty please? No? I have more tax to pay?
Pfft. She is the master of emotional blackmail after all.
Happy Birthday Chidiya.
Hugs and Kisses.
