I have never been in love. I have decided views on the subject. I definitely have aspirations and expectations from the subject. But the actual feeling has eluded me…unless you count being in love with books as legitimate but I think I have spoken about that aspect of my love story enough…for now.
And since I do not have a First Love story to tell you, I am going to tell you five ‘uncommon’ things that I love:
The smell of dry tea leaves: Have you ever smelt a jar of tea leaves? If heaven had a smell it would probably smell of tea leaves โค I especially love the smell of orthodox tea.
When the clock strikes 1 AM: The time of night when the house is quiet and everyone is asleep. The phone is silent, nobody and nothing requires your attention. You can focus fully on what you want – which is mostly either to read or to write. This is how you define bliss.
A black pen and an unruled sheet of paper: I am a writer and I am so glad that I am required by profession to have stacks of notebooks and pens that write well. Currently I am in possession of three gorgeous and empty notebooks. Just the anticipation of filling those pages is reward enough.
Collecting bookmarks: Not because I am a bibliophile but I love collecting bookmarks just for the sake of it. I am known to even keep clothes tags, business cards, envelopes, etc as potential bookmarks if they have a nice enough drawing on them.
Trees with lights: I have a collection of photos of trees with lights on them. I enjoy this particular type of photo so much, I have even included a scene where special stones that emit light are strung on a tree in my manuscript!
So this is my list. What are some of the uncommon things that you love?
