Well I love food, that’s no secret and I have friends and family that loves food – which is why I talk to them, obviously. In a previous post I had mentioned how I wanted to start a food series but it never took off because for a food series you need photos and I’m usually so impatient to get the food in my mouth, I can’t wait long enough to click one.
But that does not mean I can’t write about food! So if you’re a foodie, or know someone who’s a foodie or simply want to read a post about the joys of being a foodie, read on!
- Always thinking about food. My brain is a clutter of story ideas, screenshots of possible plot points and ‘what am I going to eat when I get hungry at 4’ or ‘I’ll save this to eat when I get hungry at 12.’
- All my plans are centered around food. That’s why I hate going for meetings at 12 because I know I’ll get hungry. I once had a meeting scheduled at 2 and my first question was, are they giving us lunch? When I have meetings at 10 am, I usually carry a snack because I know I’ll be hungry on my way back.
- Looking, smelling, touching, tasting food makes me happy.
- A silly grin on the face after eating a particularly satisfying meal. Words like, food glorious food, get embedded in my psyche and I can spend a pleasant afternoon just thinking about food.
- The words every foodie repeats, every time, without fail – I’m too full. I should not have eaten that last piece of <insert food item as per requirement>.
- As mealtime approaches, the thought that you’ll soon be tasting yummy food leads to what I like to call anticipatory hunger and a flood of saliva in the mouth in preparation for said mealtime.
- Legit crankiness, anger, brain shutdown, headache, shaky hands and a calamity of sorts occur when mealtimes get delayed, interrupted or skipped for any reason.
- Utter horror and speechlessness when someone tells you they only eat to survive or don’t understand how food could equal happiness or wish meals could be reduced to tablets to ease the tension of eating.
- Spending days to satisfy that one particular craving. Sometimes they are generic like I want to eat cake. Sometimes they are specific to a fault like I want to eat chocolate cake that has no icing and tastes like what I remember eating as a 5 year old at some aunty’s house.
- The list of ‘food places to visit’ being longer than ‘places to visit’ when going on a holiday.
Oh my god. I just realized I went through 10 points without mentioning dessert – how can this be? Maybe I can write a separate post on desserts…hmmm…this continuous ‘the series never took off’ is giving me more ideas than the series itself.
Until next time, if I can remove my head out of the food cloud, hope you enjoy your meals as much as I enjoyed writing this post – if not more!
