Get up and dance

There’s a song inside of me
waiting to burst free
if I could make myself
sit down and breathe
maybe it would come to me.

I wonder what this song will be?
Will it be a tale of wonder
Or one of despair and loneliness
Perhaps it’ll touch on some love,
A celebration of beauty and romance?

Will it uplift, will it drown
But first
Will it just come to me?
I have opened the door, pen at the ready
Won’t you come in now?

Oh! This verse is taking too long.
How long can I wait without this song?
But hark, listen, here it comes,
‘Oh my dear, dance, dance to
this song. Forget the pen. Get up and dance.

Hum this song…feel…sway…
For this is not to be written down
But felt in the heart, the limbs.
Oh but sweetness, stop the questions,
You must, we insist, get up and dance.’

Sometimes it’s important to just enjoy n soak in what the heart says. Maybe not always it wants to be written down. Maybe sometimes it just wants us to stop and dance and just sway around?

Beautiful. True that the verses tend to go away when we are ready with a pen and paper.

    1. Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s why I pick up a pen only when I know the verse is ready to come. Don’t want to scare it away!

      1. Yes, some songs are best heard and felt from within. They can’t be well explained in words. Such a nice description.
