Can we go back to yesterday?

The peace and serenity of the blue and green water finally allowed Zark to feel more alive than dead. He knew the waters of the Yalli lake gave the person swimming within its shores foresight but he had had no idea they also provided a sense of peace.

It was only now, in the embrace of the waters, did Zark realize how wound up he had been most of his life. He didn’t ever want to escape this feeling, he decided. It was the most curious thing…this new kind of peace. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t hold a single thought in his mind. It was like a thought would come in with a wave and go out with the next.

Zark could finally rest in peace.

Zark had been born with a sword hanging on his head. His father, who had the gift of sight, had a terrible nightmare on the night of his birth. He saw his son would die a young death. Frantic as his parents had been for a child, they had done all in their power to restrict him from anything that could potentially harm him.

They claimed it was to keep him alive.

It was only when he was old enough to understand what was happening, did the strings start to chafe. He started to question his parents’ motive of keeping him alive when he could barely live.

That had led to an explosive fight, unlike the ones they had had previously, for they had fought on many, many occasions. Zark had left in a frenzy, deciding to enter the waters of the Yalli lake to ask the gods for guidance for a life that was already forfeit.

If only he had known that his father had seen him drown in his nightmare.

If only his father had taught his son to swim, instead of keeping him away from the waters.

If only they had trusted each other to find a solution, together.
