The thing about #AtoZ – Reflections 2019

Long have you walked my friend
Without pause but much thought
When you were convinced inspiration was a place
That needed a special key, which you had misplaced
Long have you walked my friend
From spinning stories, to writing a thriller, to now mythology
Can you pause and rejoice
Of all that you have achieved?

Maybe now you can say
Without feeling like an impostor
With some steely conviction
And that resolute smile
You have walked long my friend
And now is the time to rest
For you have proved your worth
Even to yourself – the biggest critic.

The thing I love about this challenge is the limits to which it forces you to think, the amazing people and ideas it exposes you to and the celebratory air it has around writing and blogging.

This was my third survival of the AtoZ. Every year, it teaches me something new. This year, it taught me that I can write poetry if I set my mind to it. I remember reading one of my stories and feeling almost Tolkien-esk because it had prose + song. Needless to say, it was my proudest moment.

So I am going to take a moment to rejoice in this…feeling less of an impostor vibe before reality and my brain start to mess things up.

May is going to be an amazing month because I have finally finished my novella which began with the G post for AtoZ 2017 and I plan to publish it with Blogchatter’s Ebook Carnival. I am super excited and cannot wait to release this baby into the universe.

Wish me luck!
