Murder she wrote

My husband and I were an intellectual pair. We were together because we didn’t interfere with the other’s work and we had a handsome companion on our hand for social events people in our position were required to frequent.

The only thing I asked of him was fidelity and the only thing he asked of me was to maintain my good looks. He obliged me and I obliged him. It was the perfect marriage.

So imagine my surprise when I came to know he was cheating on me. What infuriated me was not the act itself but the betrayal.

I hadn’t anticipated the depth of my anger so was quite shocked when I realized I wanted to kill him. There was something extraordinarily ordinary about murder that people just didn’t get! They think it is difficult but give anyone enough incentive, and they’ll do it.

And so I started laying the groundwork. Leaving behind little clues – writings, emails, mild threats – but the buffoon that my husband is, he didn’t take the hint. So my clues became less subtle and more, hey here’s a knife under my pillow and I am going to kill you with it.

Finally, one night, after months of planning, I did it. I scared him into believing that I was angry enough to murder him.

And then it happened…in order to protect himself, he killed me…smothered me with a pillow.

Now let him live with that.

  3. Oh! This is so good! I didn’t expect that ending. I hope his conscious rattles him forever.

    1. That was her plan I’d assume. It also wouldn’t hurt if he went to jail.
