I was lonely before you came
Happy in my world,
Talking to dolls, bears and
Imaginary friends.
I was lonely before you came
Losing myself in my surroundings,
Walking among the trees
Trying to find my peace.
I was lonely before you came
Like a part of me was missing
As if the heart was waiting
To beat for you once you came.
I was lonely before you came
And then news of you arrived
Burning my life with sudden vigour
Anticipation brimming with excitement.
I was lonely before you came
And then I finally saw you.
A piece that had been missing slit back into place
I was lonely no more.
Now we are two peas in a pod
Me happy to hold your hand
You satisfied to have me beside you
The circle, thus, complete.
And if ever I feel lonely again
I will remember your hugs,
Your trust, your blinding faith…
…I will remember how you loved me.
