This is for the strong ones
Who are standing with a sword and shield held aloft
Dressed in armour
Waiting for a fight that has long been over.
This is for the strong ones
Who have lost connection with their tears
Unless they see it on someone else
And know exactly how to soothe a hurt.
This is for the strong ones
Who have been told “you are strong”
Every time they want to break
So they stitch themselves back together.
This for the strong ones
Who have learnt to hate weakness
Because they have never been afforded
A safe place where they can fall.
This is for the strong ones
It’s okay to put down your sword and shield
Step out of your armour
And let yourself break.
Now
Let the breeze cool the sweat
Welcome the rain that cries with you
Allow the birdsong to loosen your tight muscles
For earth to be the solid foundation on which you lay.
Ask
The elements around you
To help you, to witness your breakdown
To record your rebirth
To remind you that you’re not alone. Never alone.
This is for the strong ones
Who have forgotten what it means to ask
Receive now the medicine
Of your stardust, blackholes and ordinariness.
