Little bird, little bird

Little bird, little bird
Hush, don’t make faces now
Do you want your face to be stuck in that mask?

Little bird, little bird
Hush, don’t sit like that
What if someone sees how uncultured you are?

Little bird, little bird
Hush, contain yourself
It’s unseemly to spread out like that.

Little bird, little bird
Hush, quieten that voice
Let us, who know better, talk.

Little bird, little bird
Hush. Stop. Think.
Why do you cling to these false modesties?

Little bird, little bird
Sing, open that mouth
And howl your song.

Little bird, little bird
Rain, fire and brimstone
Untether that warrior spirit.

Little bird, little bird
Claim, the grandeur that you are
The cage isn’t the safe space you think it is.

Little bird, little bird
Walk, the path of your song
You don’t need to be little anymore.

  1. From restrictions to the freedom. Your little bird ready to fly and not little anymore. Nice poem 👍
