PHOTO PROMPT ยฉ Dale Rogerson
โChristmas tree, my Christmas tree…โ
โSonny, what are you doing?โ asked Mother seeing the boy perched on a stool, taping the broken glass. โWho did that? Are you hurt?โ
โDon’t worry mommy. Billy was trying to get in. But I fixed it.โ
Sonnyโs intense concentration on the task at hand was disconcerting. โWho’s Billy?โ Mother asked gently.
Sonny smiled like he wasnโt all there. โBilly the bully mommy.โ
A chill ran down her spine as she stared beyond the broken glass. โAre you sure? Billy…but Billy…”
โI know mommy. And now, he can’t come inside. See I fixed it.โ
Written as part of the Friday Fictioneers hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. The idea is to write a 100-word story on a photo prompt. You can read the other stories here.
