If creativity could speak, what would it say?

A few days back, I talked about the 11 Days Letter Writing Challenge and how the participants of the challenge spoke to different aspects of life for a message. So, I thought of speaking to my creativity and below, is the message it had.

When you take a walk in nature, what strikes you the most? The warmth of the sun. The wind playing with your hair. The smell of verdant green. How deeply the roots of trees penetrate the earth. How your heart soars and your mind quiets its unnecessary chatter.

That is what creativity is. It helps you to expand beyond yourself, to show you how you’re a part of the whole.

When you write, Suchita, you feel it’s a lonely and solitary activity. But it is not. It’s a symphony of a lot of threads, tracks, experiences coming together to create something interesting.

Creativity is about curiosity. Having so many questions but not knowing the answers. And being okay with the mystery.

Creativity is in everything you do because you do it in a way that is yours and cannot be mimicked.

It gives you wings and more importantly, courage to delve into things that are uncomfortable. To look at your pain and grief and say it matters.

Creativity tells you that you’re vital. It is not about art, music, writing, cooking, etc. These are expressions and tools for how to use this creative force. Creativity is bigger than that.

It is about looking outside of yourself and seeing yourself in it. It is about seeing inside yourself and finding everything you seek. It is about breaking your cages, finding your voice and helping someone else find theirs.

It is about loving yourself and the world in all its broken glory. For only when you love something do you want to make things right. To make things just and better for those around you.

It takes creativity to allow yourself to be open to all sorts of hurts so you can be the breaker of chains and say, enough, I will do this my way.
